Tattoo Sleeve Design

A sleeve isn't a pile of tattoos — it's one composition. We plan your full or half sleeve as a single piece that flows with your arm.

One arm, one story

The difference between a collection of tattoos and a sleeve is planning. We compose focal pieces, background and negative space together — so your arm reads as a single work from every angle, fresh and decades healed.

Starting fresh or building on pieces you already wear, the master plan comes first. Then we execute it session by session, in the order that heals best.

What's included

01

Composition master plan

Your whole arm mapped as one piece — focal points, background, flow and negative space planned before session one.

02

Background & filler

Wind bars, florals, dotwork or smoke designed to tie existing and new work into a single sleeve.

03

Multi-session scheduling

Priority rebooking in the right order — outline, shading, color — spaced for clean healing between sittings.

04

Cover-up integration

Old pieces don't have to go. We design around or over them so everything reads as intentional.

How a sleeve comes together

01

Map the arm

We photograph and measure, then sketch the full composition — front, back and how it wraps.

02

Start with anchors

Main focal pieces go first so the sleeve has landmarks; background is designed around them.

03

Build in sessions

Three to six sittings is typical for a full sleeve, spaced three to four weeks apart.

04

Tie it together

Final sessions add background, filler and contrast passes so the whole arm reads as one.

Sleeve questions

A half sleeve (shoulder to elbow) suits a first large project and lower budget; a full sleeve gives room for a complete story. Either way we design so it can extend later.

Most full sleeves take four to six sessions of three to five hours; half sleeves two to three. You'll get a session map and estimate before we start.

Yes — that's most of our sleeve work. We design new focal pieces and background that incorporate or cover existing tattoos so the result looks planned.

Sleeves are quoted as projects after consultation, billed at $180/hour. Half sleeves typically land between $1,200 and $2,500; full sleeves vary widely with detail and coverage.
